ASTM Toy Safety Standard F963-17 in Direct Final Rule

 

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a Direct Final Rule (DFR) for ASTM F963-17 on December 4, 2017, in relation to mandatory safety standard. It will be effective on February 28, 2018[1]

Regarding to ASTM F963-17, critical language that was inadvertently missing from the 2016 edition related to the requirements for “projectile” toys as well as the error and several other smaller editorial corrections to the 2016 version were made.

The requirements of projectile toys with stored energy is stated that the Kinetic energy density (KED) requirement only applies to the projectiles that have kinetic energy greater than 0.08 Joules (J).

CMA Testing[2] is one of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) accepted testing laboratories.
